About The Youkai Assassin
The Youkai Assassin is an intimate and respectful reimagining of Hokkaido during the Meiji Restoration Era. In a world adjacent to humanity, two kitsune, walking down contrasting paths, intersect to form an unexpected bond to reunite their once-connected villages someday. The series dramatizes the themes of bureaucracy, war, equity, romance, family crises, and classism while exposing the audience to conversational Japanese and Japan's cultural richness.
